In the spring of 2026 it was a bright sunny day when Rosemary Schultz recorded the Ohio EP on the porch of Polychrome Ranch with Producer Jared Corder. Four songs were tracked to tape, capturing Schultz's raw takes and a few bird calls for good measure. There were plenty of little imperfect moments but that was the whole intention behind this EP. In a world of "polished," she naturally gravitates towards a more gritty and truthful take of a song, especially the ones built around love, loss, and healing. The songs on the Ohio EP include title track Ohio, Gamblin Game, Unwelcome Guest, and Tied to You.

Ohio: Though born and raised in Ohio, Schultz struggled for years to call it home. A tumultuous upbringing left behind memories she wasn't sure she wanted to revisit.

"I saw the worst in people there, and it brought out the worst in myself. It was hard to go back when everything served as a reminder of that. Somewhere over the past decade, I chose forgiveness and found there were still pieces left—and people—I hoped to call home again."

The title track reflects that journey. Rather than looking back with bitterness, Ohio honors the complicated beauty of returning to one's roots and embracing a new beginning, both personally and artistically.

Gambling Game: Written from the perspective of a deeply personal story that Schultz has carried with her since childhood, Gamblin Game explores the risks we take when we choose love despite knowing we may lose. Not all was lost it seems.

Unwelcome Guest: A bit of an anti-hero melody, Unwelcome Guest explores what it feels like to be trapped by the past. It's a song about small-town ghosts—the memories, relationships, and old versions of ourselves that continue to haunt us long after we've left.

Tied to You: Inspired by the red string theory, the belief that two people destined to meet are forever connected, Tied to You offers the emotional resolution to the EP. Released as a single on August 28th, 2026, it has become a favorite during Schultz's live performances, perhaps because we're all a little bit hopelessly romantic.

About the artist: Rosemary Schultz is a Nashville-based Americana artist known for her raw, haunting vocals and gritty blend of acoustic guitar and harmonica. Her songs weave classic folk storytelling with a rebellious edge, moving audiences through emotionally charged performances that celebrate freedom, love, and defiance. The release of "Betty & Jesse" on September 5, 2025 marked the next chapter in Schultz’s unconventional music journey, one that didn’t begin until age 25. Born and raised in Ohio, Schultz served in the military before ever writing a song. After leaving the service, she picked up a guitar as a way to process her thoughts and find herself again. Music was never something she intended to share—but it’s become an outlet for healing and finding her community.
